"On Being Pakeha Now # 41 Mary Magdalene" is part of a series of paintings I worked on during 2009, inspired from a visit to my native New Zealand during Christmas 2008. 

Pakeha means white New Zealander, that which I am.  There were 52 paintings in the series, one for each week of the year.
