"Moby Dick II" 2002 | Color Photograph "C" Print No. 2 of 25 | Size = 20" X 30"

This is a photograph made from a large bookworks piece of mine, also entitled "Surely all this is not without meaning." (Moby Dick). The original installation piece is a large (VERY large - 11 feet in diameter!) spiral disc constructed from two copies of the book Moby Dick (in order to get both sides of each page, and therefore the book in its entirety), cut apart line by line and put together with clear tape.

The photograph is an abstraction, shot with the piece backlit, and shows just a very small portion at the center.
