Rebecca Steelman | Rialto, California USA
Rebecca Steelman is an active, emerging artist, living in Rialto, CA for over 26 years. Having the gift for drawing from early childhood, Rebecca received much recognition and art awards throughout elementary, middle, and high school. She graduated with Art scholarships and majored in Art at the California State University San Bernardino in the early 1980’s (then it was still a state college). While a student there, Rebecca earned the respect and admiration of her peers and faculty, having the honour of her large figurative paintings shown in the Art Gallery there in 1983, with two other established figurative artists from Los Angeles. These pieces were also shown in a San Bernardino library. She subsequently made some tough life choices which led her marry and begin a family, rather than pursuing a professional art career. All things, well and good, she is now endeavoring to get her work out into the public eye, in consignments, Art exhibits, Gary Brant’s 140hours Auction, and involvement in Art associations. She is an enthusiastic and active artist in the Twitter community, promoting hers and others art, having gained many followers.
Rebecca takes some pride in using her talent freely in many different media and subject matter, currently working on more color-pencil drawings for her “Eagles” series, landscapes, and historic/residential architectural drawings and paintings in watercolor, and acrylics on canvas. In her colored-pencil drawings, Rebecca loves to explore the simple, yet vibrant color, fully using their potential versatility in technique, hue, light, and shadow to bring out the depth and richness of the image she is drawing. She connects with the spirit of her subjects, capturing the light of their existence in nature, and expression of God-Consciousness in the universe. She loves to work in fine detail in all of her pieces. Rebecca has just finished a first drawing of her new “Wildflowers in Bloom” series. She is always open to commissions for portrait paintings and drawings, be it persons, or animals/pets. As for her portrait paintings, Rebecca specializes in the use of acrylic paints on canvas. She has also done some paintings in acrylic of godforms and angels, and in this capacity intends to paint more in this “Mystical” series.
