Margreet Ledelay | Rotterdam, Holland
My work is always about the relationship of man ( the human body) to nature/ earth. Structure in the bark of trees, I see simularities with the skin and internal organs at macro level. The texture of the tree can also be a metaphor of wounds and scars To show the suffering, I often use contrasts in my work: geomatric (my canvas) versus organic, dark versus light.
I am influenced by the Arte Povera, ‘l art informel and abstract expressionism. Actually my work is a literary metaphor of suffering: violated, but growing and living with pride. I like to use mostly natural materials: graphite, clay, wood.
Web 2.0 is one of my tools to get my work closer to the people. I like to bring some visual culture in a social media enviroment like Twitter & Facebook. I post my sketches and drawings on the internet every day through these media and on my personal website. This website is a growing document, a living organism, just like my work. I like to involve people at my work and do everyhing to give art to people.
In my humble opinion art and art education must be accessible to every human being, regardless of color & status. “It’s all about sharing!”
